How to keep running costs down
- Choose a system for what the building actually needs, not for maximum output.
- Use heat pumps and equipment with high seasonal efficiency (SEER and SCOP).
- Use ventilation with heat recovery, so heat from outgoing air warms the incoming air.
- Combine heating, cooling and ventilation into one system.
- Control temperatures by zone, by schedule and by outdoor weather.

Air change rates and filtration designed for each room type. Ventilation requirements are set by risk assessment in line with NHS England guidance HTM 03-01.

Equipment gives off heat all the time, so cooling is needed all year round and the temperature must stay stable.

Warm air collects under the roof. Ducted units mounted high draw that warm air down into the working area. Heating from air-to-air heat pumps.
Homes and flats
Comfort and low running costs come first: an air-to-water heat pump with underfloor heating or radiators, heat recovery ventilation and concealed ducted air conditioning.
